Fibro Guys

A Social Network for Men with Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue or Pain

Muscle twitches are apparently rather common in us Fibro folk and I've been dealing with a brand new one in the last couple of days.

The spot where the upper arm meets the shoulder, a place where people often put their easily concealed upper arm tattoos, has been twitching every 2-10 seconds for about 48 hours now and it's starting to get actually quite painful.

Anyone got a twitch they're dealing with, have dealt with or somesuch?

Any advice on how to get rid of it?
It's seriously starting to bother me

I too have lots of muscle twitches, twinges and knots, some right where you're having yours. They can get pretty painful. I use a TENS unit. There are several places you can buy them online for as little as $59 http://www.lgmedsupply.com/. I find that it helps more than muscle relaxers. Get a couple of them, wire yourself up with some ice (or heat whatever works for you) and wait it out. Good luck!

Yes, this is the best non-medicated way.... These are nice.. Traction also helps if you can get it...

I have had the internal neck stimulator temporary implants along the spine in the cervical and upper back area... (twice) and had problems with it in various ways... I wanted this so bad as all the medications I've been on since I was young with allergy meds and graduated to pain pills, anti-inflammation, steroids and stomach OTC and other meds... Thats why I've gone to the patch to help the stomach from years of abuse...

Oh I said I had years of medications... since I was very young... I'm 47 now and recently had to remove my teeth because they were chipping and cracking... some due to clinching and stressful lifestyle... SIngle dad and son on... But now the infections that kept kick my body with over use of antibiotics... I choose to have the last lower 8 taken out because 2 needed work the main ones for a partial lower denture... I just couldn't take the problems and years of work to be done, just to be done over in another 3 to 5 years at the outside best. Meds. vs Teeth vs. little Medicaid is a nutty choice to have to make to fight this problem of ours...

diazepam or Valium, is used for twitches as you put it... I had that on both shoulders earlier last year... I worked a very repetitive job. I'm on disability now...

Mine twitching is inside my elbows... very strange.. something I've experienced since my early teens with my legs.

I'm on the Burtrans pain patch which is better than Fenytnal, but still very addictive and currently I'm having the D.T.'s/shakes for being without it for 3 days now...

Now that I have SS Disability Ins. I have a $194 per month deductible - spend down (whatever that means), so a quarter of what I have goes to my mediation which is $262 per month for 4 patches.
Like the Fentynal patch... I've gone 2 days without the Burtans patch and experiencing withdraws and shakes big time... Took me nearly 5 months to get something besides Morphine... Wanting a call back, but will be calling the doc over the weekend to get that and a handicapped plate for my car.
The last week I've had such back and hip issues I can hardly walk and asking for the 10mcg patch vs. the 5.
Only the 50th time I've had to deal with this... first time was my Jr. year in High School.

yes we twitch hans. I take klonopin for twitching and does help. I also have costochondritis, inflamed rib heads.. ouch, also common w/us..

peace
