Does fibro reduce our masculinity? or reshape it?

Perhaps the best words I've heard on this question were written by Bob Hall, founder of menwithfibro.com. I copied these paragraphs from the "What's It Like?" page on that site:"Hey, I am a man, the…Continue

a decade since my fibro dx

In a few wks, it'll be a decade since my fms dx in 2000, at age 40. I recall for some yrs after that, trying to escape the pain & not wanting to to be a chronic pain patient. Getting used to taking daily meds & sleep problems & memory issues. Praying & asking others to pray for God to heal me, & the disappointment & depression when I wasn't healed.

Then, sometime in '03-05, gradually coming to realize I was probably going to have to live w/ this pain for the… Continue

Hey Randall, good to hear from you. Those sound like great ideas to try. I've started on savella for about 6 weeks or so, it seems to have improved my out look and energy levels so far. With that, I am struggling to learn my limits on the good days. It always seems my to do list is bigger than my good days can handle, but I am figuring out being flared up for several days or weeks after over doing it just puts me further behind. I definitely struggle to find exercise that doesn't put me down for awhile. My wife is into yoga and I am going to give that a try. It is such a load off my mind to find other guys going through the same things, I really thought I was just going crazy for awhile. The more and more my wife and I research this, it just all comes together. I really feel that the sleep apnea is a huge piece to our puzzle, I am unable to use sleep machine due to chronic sinus issues (I guess my sinuses never fully developed, or something along those lines). Anyhow good to hear from a fellow iowan/mid westerner, hope all is well with you and thanks for reaching out. Go HAWKS!! This has been a rough week after the cyclones beat us.

Hey Randall,

Thanks for writing. I have had Fibro for 27 years. It seems to be getting worse. Especially the depression and fatigue. Some days can't even get out of bed. Never feel refreshed after i've slept. I have sleep apnea also. Cannot tolerate a cpap machine. Drives me nuts. I also have a 35 yr. old mentally ill son i have to care for. Its very difficult and wearing. I need the Lord just to survive. I hope He has some plans to make a few changes soon. My mom is from Oklahoma. I have some neat relatives down there in Muskogee. Yea i have been following Phil Keaggy snce 1973. I have met him twice. Really nice guy. No ego trip. So keep in touch ok?

God bless, Keith

Hey Randall;
Live in a little burg right smack in the middle of the state.
Not working, fibro cross-referenced with several other health troubles has ended that for the time being. It's also done a number on even the hobbies.
Thanks for saying hey.
later,
Forrest

I pretty much do the same with the small amount of percocet. What will you use in the summer?
