Medication go round...
Best thing to keep in mind is that everyone is different with shape, size, sex and so on... So what works for one may not be for another... I've been a worker in a hospital and have seen both sides of being in a hospital setting with having experienced Cold Turkey for various reasons while having taken a full spectrum of medications. One of my issues is that I've been medicated in one way or another since my childhood allergies and shots, pills with stimulants and relaxants and so on...…

I have tried all of the poisons my doctor precribed. exactly that poisons! they left me sicker feeling than the pain does. so i also tried massage (helps while being rubbed but no lasting relief) accupuncture…

My friend died today of a sudden and massive brain aneuryism. She was on life support for 22 hrs. with no brain activity, no change. We were at the ICU all night. Today the decision had to be made to stop the life support. An hour and 45 min later she took her last breath. She was 64 and had just got married to my best friend of 15 yrs just 4 months ago after a 4 yr relationship. She also leaves behind her 32 yr old daughter.
She told me that every morning you wake up breathing is…

Went to see my friend of almost 20 yrs today who is in the final stages of cancer. She is 47. I am 55. It never seems fair, but when it's someone so young, it's just less fair. She is one of the 2 percentile that does not respond to treatment for thyroid cancer. It very quickly infected her bones and so they are collasping, there is large tumor in her neck that is growing is cutting off air supply. She has tumors all over and they just found more lesions in her lungs. They don't know how…

I haven't ever blogged before so I'm just gonna say what it is today? Warning....this is really long...there's alot on my mind that my body just doesn't agree with.
Along with the fibromyalgia, I have 2 herniated discs in my lower back and now peripherial nerve damage from the back of my knees to the bottom of my feet. That started back in July when my feet just started hurting. I bought new shoes thinking that was the problem but didn't help. So had yet some more tests and viola! I…

Pain Meds...
I can't speak for everyone, but I will tell you I deal with Fibro, Ankylosing Spondylitis, Rieters and so on.... been through all the med-go-rounds that most of us had... But for pain I've found little that works... Oxy (pills), Durigesic patch.... Morphine a few months back and did have good things to say about Nucynta, but recently I got a new Burtrans patch, once a week... Helped me greatly today.. most normal overcast days dipping in the upper to mid 50's like today.... I normally…

What a pain pain is...
I deal with A.S., Rieters, Fibro and other problems. Recently I had most of my teeth removed. Absesses, infection and TMJ pain through the roof. Now that all of that crud is out of my body... I should be feeling better, only my Jaw is so poorly equipped to handle the pain... Dealing with soft foods. But my face and cheek bone feels like I keep fighting Mike Tyson and he keeps hitting me over and over in the jaw. Sitting the the dentist chair for hours at a time.. My neck issues of old jump…

Last weekend I spent camping with the queers!

I was “a leader” from the northern Iceland team of GSSM (gender, sexuality, and sex minority) group and so I was a “responsible adult” this weekend.
The people coming up from south-west Iceland (mostly Reykjavík) were mostly underage with the exception of the two “leaders.”
Day 1.
We left Akureyri in two cars and we headed off late due to people getting together late, and then arrived late to the…

spent a month in mental health facility
well....
I had so much grief and loss in my life that I almost ended it. I had lost my wife, job, daughter, friends, and all the things i loved to do and I couldnt see any reason to live. I spent a week on the couch, crying and wanting to die... Finally, I had had enough. I took my ak 47 and one cartridge and drove up the to the blue ridge parkway. I was finally ready to die. When i got to a pull off, there were several guys on motercycles there and as I waited for them to…
ContinueI've just come back from a two week vaction in the Mojave Desert (USA). I traveled there last year (to Arizona, Nevada and Utah) and experienced a similar cessation of my acute symptoms of FM.
I didn't really register the lessening of symptoms last year as I thought it was just a side-effect of taking a vacation in general! I've take a few trips away from my home environment since that trip to Utah and before this 'big' trip to the Mojave and not felt any relief of symptoms.…

Long time no post...
Since last we spoke I've;
Had surgery
Passed exams
Been to therapy
Been to physical therapy
and probably some other things.
As I've mentioned, I'm a trans man, and today I'm bundled up in pillows and blankets in a nest/fort in my bedroom recovering from a transition related surgery. Top surgery to be exact. My chest has been smoothed down, flattened, made more masculine.
I am stunned at how mobile and alert I am. The area must have been stressing…

Sleeping Problems a big factor
Hi guys,
I have found out, which most of you know, that sleeping problems are a huge problem with this illness. After 28 years of having Fibro, I now take 6mg of melatonin and Zyrtec at nite before bed. It does get me into some deeper sleep for a period of time which I think is helping me feel somewhat better. Zyrtec is an allergy antihistamine med which is stronger than Benadryl. You can take it once every 24 hours. Before I took this stuff I never got a good nites sleep. I would…

Fibromyalgia awareness day
Hello all. May 12th is national fibro day. It is a chance to have our voice heard. If anyone is interested in learning more about this please connect w/Fmaware.com or myself. I have already gotten pamphlets to pass out at work, posters to put up at work and surronding facilities, plus my bumber sticker which is a purple ribbon with fibromyalgia is real written on it. I feel support is essential in living w/ this condition. So I will keep you posted on what I'm doing to prepare for fibro…

newbie needs help and support
I know you have heard it all before.... 45 years old healthy as a horse cyclist, runner, weightlifter, newly married under a lot of stress; I had been having chronic headaches for six years prior; these got progressively worse until......mine began as a twinge in my lower back... gradually, it spread up my back and down into my hips.... the origional twinge is still the most painful spot. This was accompanied by a gradually building anxiety about what was goinng on. I have classic fibro…

I hear you
I just joined this forum last night, and be aware this is my first letter so please bear with me as I'm not that articulate.
A letter moved me to write to you because of your age.It must seem overwhelming to you and depressing to think of the implication's of this disease.Perhaps if I share my existence you may relate and find comfort ,hope and a guideline for medical interaction.
First,I was born screaming and didn't stop until I was 3. I complained constantly and was…

Antidepressants...
Oh joy, new meds, new side-effects, new new new..
Over the holidays I got sick with some flu for the first time in years and I was also more skint, further in the red, than I have been in years.
So, everything just sort of caved in for me.
My depression took a dive for the worse and I have been unable to claw my way out of that pit since.
This means I finally swallowed my pride and accepted that I may need antidepressants, at least for a while.
So…
